There is nothing like a hot summer day, sitting in your Muskoka chair relaxing with the sun on your face . Today we are going to be talking about HYDRATING fruits for those summer days, when water just doesn’t cut it.
Watermelon
The name ” Water” is a clue that this is one of the most hydrating fruits on the planet! Not only does it quenche your thirst but is jam-packed with potassium! Potassium helps to aid in lowering blood pressure and also helps your nerves function properly. It has been shown to play a role in helping to maintain water balance as well as helping to offset muscle cramping.
Strawberries
Not only are these little guys super yummy with some cream wrapped around them but they are vitamin c superstars! Strawberries contain a massive amount… just about 97mg per cup. They also have been shown to help to aid in lowering cholesterol ( skip the whip cream if your watching your cholesterol). These are awesome to snack on frozen while your enjoying the sun.
Pineapple
Pineapple is a sweet way to eat your water over the summer! Pineapple is packed full of water and vitamin c ( move over strawberries) but it also has fiber and a really great digestive enzyme called Bromelain ( which helps to break down proteins) BRING ON THE STEAK!
Cantalope
While watermelon is the CEO of hydration.. its sibling Cantaloupe also contains a massive amount of water ( 90%). Cantaloupe has vitamin c and fiber it also contains a vitamin called ” Beta-carotene”. Beta-carotene is what gives cantaloupe its orange hue, and is a “provitamin,” which means your body uses it to make vitamin A ( which aids in immune health and night vision)
